Description
The Last Frontier
Bordering Meru and Kora National Parks, Mwingi National Reserve remains remote, hot and dry and utterly unspoiled just like her neighbors. The reserve is classified as a wilderness activity zone that allows for fly camping, fishing, camel and horseback safaris for the intrepid visitor as opportunities for traditional game viewing are extremely limited. Wildlife populations are fairly low, but hippo, crocodile, buffalo and warthog are present.
Attractions & Activities
Major attractions include the Adamson’s Falls, fishing and boating on Tana River and tour of Kampi ya Simba, the former home of Joy and George Adamson and the grave of Elsa the lioness.
The fact that Mwingi National reserve is bordered by Meru and Kora National Parks, it is frequently visited by different animal species from these parks. Animals that are found in Mwingi national reserve are Caracal, elephant, hippo, leopard, lion and several antelope species among others.
